Modicon Project Reference List

Following is a sample of recent Modicon projects with which we have been involved. Please contact your Applied Control Engineering, Inc. representative if you require additional information.

Croda (formerly Uniqema/ICI Surfactants)

Provided systems integration services for the complete site, including both upgrades and ongoing maintenance support. All processes were upgraded to utilize Modicon PLCs and InTouch HMIs. The applications included batch control, supervisory monitoring/control, and material handling. Modicon products included Compact, 685, 785, and Quantum controllers integrated on a plant-wide Modbus+ network. All of the programs were developed using Taylor Programming Software.

AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals

ACE was selected as the site preferred systems integrator in 1997. Since that time, we have been responsible for systems integration services for the entire site, which has standardized on Modicon PLCs. The facility has a large collection of Compact, 485, 685, 785, Quantum, and Momentum controllers tied together on a very large Modbus+ network utilizing bridges, routers, and multiplexers. Taylor programming software is the plant standard.

Applications have included batch process control, temperature and humidity monitoring, and a central alarm recording and reporting system. Validation documentation has also been part of ACE’s responsibilities.

Stauffer Management Company

This application was a mine water treatment facility in Northern California. The system included redundant Modicon 685 controllers tied to two 385 controllers via fiber-optic Modbus+ modems. A separate radio telemetry system for remote sites was also integrated into the system. Two Wonderware InTouch operator interface stations were provided for supervisory control and reporting purposes. ACE currently provides remote maintenance and support of the system via PCAnywhere dialup. Modsoft programming software is used at this site.

Stauffer Management Company

ACE currently supports a series of unmanned ground water treatment sites around the country. Each site has a Modicon Compact PLC and a Wonderware InTouch HMI. The control system monitors process parameters and reports these parameters daily for regulatory purposes. We currently provide remote maintenance and support of the system via PCAnywhere dialup. Modsoft programming software is used at all of the sites.
