Bridging the IT/OT Gap: Bring IT into Your Acceptance Testing

In December, MESA International featured an article on their blog authored by ACE’s Dirk Sweigart. Dirk wrote on the topic of cybersecurity, specifically addressing the concept of bridging the IT and OT gap and bringing IT resources into acceptance testing procedures. During acceptance testing, IT resources may be able to address cybersecurity requirements or other requirements that automation engineers and operations may not consider. Dirk explains that, “Cybersecurity requirements can represent a common ground where both IT and OT can see and understand the requirements, perform the tests, confirm that the system is ready for operation in a production environment, and develop a shared understanding of systems, methods, and priorities.” Click here to read the article in its entirety or for more information on this topic contact Dirk at 302.738.8800.

ACE Named One of Control Engineering’s 2015 System Integrator Giants

On December 21, 2015, Control Engineering, a CFE Media publication, announced the 2015 System Integrator Giants. The list includes the top 100 system integrators for 2015 ranked according to total system integration revenue. This year, our fourth time participating in the program, ACE was ranked 33rd.

The list was compiled based on surveys sent to the engineering firms in Control Engineering's Global System Integrator Database. In addition to system integration revenue, this year’s Giants list also took a closer look at current system integration trends and issues such as creating successful partnerships with manufactures and how manufacturers can better leverage their relationships with integrators.

According to Timothy L. Cole, P.E., President of ACE, “Our best clients are concerned with team building and partnership – both internally and externally. As manufacturers run with minimal staff, good working relationships, especially those with process automation and systems engineering service providers become increasingly necessary. When customers, suppliers, and integrators work together, we are all successful.”
