FIRST Robotics Competition
For the fifth year in a row, Jayesh Jariwala of ACE’s Chesapeake Region office mentored high school students competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. For three years, Jayesh has been the programming mentor for the RoboDoves of Western High School in Baltimore, Maryland - the oldest public all-girls high school in the country. Each year the team is given a game challenge from FIRST and starting with a kit of parts has six weeks to design, build, program, and test a robot. This year, the RoboDoves competed in two regional events – one in Raleigh, North Carolina and one in College Park, Maryland. The team came away with Judges Awards at both events.
Texas Warrior Dash
On Saturday, March 22, 2014 Andrew Edmondson and Cedrick Crosby from ACE’s Gulf Coast office competed in the Texas Warrior Dash. Raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Warrior Dash is the world’s largest obstacle race series. Andrew and Cedrick earned their Warrior helmets by tackling a fierce 3.7 mile course and 12 extreme obstacles. Afterwards they celebrated at a post-race party featuring turkey legs, beer steins, and live music.
Spring is Here
Today marks the official start of spring. While for many of us it still feels like winter, warmer days are sure to be in our future. Here at ACE we are looking forward to water ice, opening day, and spending more time outdoors. Luckily for the folks in our New England office, the cool nights of winter helped these tropical plants feel right at home and the flowers have already started to bloom.
