Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)

(ACE) understands your priorities and has extensive experience in all aspects of safety systems including safety instrumented systems (SIS), emergency shutdown systems (ESD), safety shutdown systems (SSD), and safety interlock systems. In fact, we take safety so seriously that select members of our staff are certified by two highly recognized organizations – the CFSE Governance Board and TÜV Rheinland. These boards require not only rigorous testing, but also project experience prior to achieving certification.
ACE’s approach to safety systems has evolved with the development of industry standards including IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 (ANSI/ISA S84). ACE follows the S84 Safety Life Cycle to develop Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) and perform conceptual and detailed design prior to installing, commissioning and testing SIS systems. ACE can also assist customers by participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) safety/risk assessments.
ACE has developed safety systems for oil refineries, mining operations, paper mills and chemical plants. Safety system applications include chemical process shutdowns, fired heaters, burner management systems, fire and gas detection, black liquor boiler shutdowns and compressor shutdowns. As an independent systems integrator, ACE is able to work with
customers to evaluate competing SIS architectures and technologies. Whether your system involves multiple PLCs or a single DCS, we know the critical design elements and right approach for both hardware and software. Our experience includes implementing and testing Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF’s) for a broad range of platforms including: HIMA, Honeywell, ICS Triplex, Invensys (Triconex), Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley, RTP, and Siemens.
